You know you’re really, really, really busy when a pub date for a book actually sneaks up on you.
I’ve been so engrossed in Arthas’s dark journey that I only just found out that my collaboration with Aaron Rosenberg, Beyond the Dark Portal, is actually out now!
This is the second time I’ve done a collaboration, and both times it was because of a time crunch. Aaron wrote the first draft of the novel and to get the book in on time I was invited in to do the second draft. Readers of my Warcraft fiction know that thus far, I’ve dealt primarily with the Horde, specifically orc, side of things. Well, BtDP deals with both Horde and Alliance, and as I play both Horde and Alliance, I found that a great deal of fun.
It actually brought about kind of a warm and fuzzy feeling to revisit Ner’zhul and Grom Hellscream. And it was a kick to get to play with famous characters like Danath and Khadgar and Terenas. Things are starting to interweave now, and it’s pretty cool, because I am getting to write these characters repeatedly with different takes on them.
Long time readers know that much as I love action and strong storylines, even more do I love my lovers.
I’ve always woven a romance into my stories to a greater or lesser extent. Hey, even with Rise of the Horde–Durotan and Draka were definitely in love, even as they kicked ass together. And here I got to flesh out the relationship between elven ranger Alleria Windrunner and the human paldin Turalyon. It’s such a big story and there’s so much to relate that I couldn’t focus on them as much as I might have liked–too much else needed to be told!–but what I did have a chance to do I enjoyed.
Amazon.com’s carrying the book, and it should start popping up in bookstores any day now.
For the Horde! And this time…also, For the Alliance!
Mmmmm, good wine, thanks for the drink.
You didn’t realise your book was on the shelves?!?
I’m wondering if I should take that as a very good sign that you are so into your current wip and that is why you forgot or should I be worried and start searching for ways to improve your memory. Authors have to deal with so many little details and if the big ones are slipping the mind . . . oh the chaos you could create!
Once I upgrade my computer, I believe I will have to give these games a try. Right now, it would probably kill my very old PC. But even without knowing the world as well as those who play, I still enjoy the books.
Keep on writing! And, did I mention yet that the site I review for is active again? No, hmmm, wonder how that could have slipped my mind.
Well, I was told it was a July release, so I didn’t expect to see it for a while yet! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Congratulations, Christie. Hope you a great summer. Awesome work on Beyond the Dark Portal. I have sounded the horn over at Blizzplanet to alert fans to grab the book asap.
Hope to read your Arthas novel, and many more.
Great news Christie!
I loved your work in Lord of the Clans and Rise of the Horde and I’ve been looking forward to this book for a while now!
Fingers crossed so it gets shipped to me ASAP!
My most sincere congratulations, and a special thanks to Medievaldragon for pointing me out in the right direction on the Blizzplanet site!
Cheers!

Yes, congrats, Christie.
I have been a fan since Ravenloft and “Dance of the Dead”. You’ve been a definate influence to me regarding my growth as a writer.
I am very happy that you have a blog up.
no ma’am… it’s just “FOR THE HORDE”!
in all seriousness i just started reading “Lord of the Clans”… i’m like on chapter three. so far i love it! i’ve always found the horde’s storyline more amusing and interesting but i don’t want to take anything away from my alliance brethren.
i’ll have to pick up “Rise of the Horde” and BtDP when i’m done with this trilogy.
take care and know that you have one extra fan out there!
Congrats Christie!
I am a huge fan of yours. I have been to your book signings in Colorado as well.
I hope you are not going to forget about the Voyager books you have been soo good with! They are good…and I just dont think anyone else captures the characters like you do!
Please let us all know the fate of the Christie Golden Star Trek books??!!
thankyou
Hi, Christie!
I’m a big fan of your Voyager relaunch novels, and I’ve been poking around at some of your other work as well. I really love what you do.
I hope I won’t seem rude, but I’m horribly curious– Will there still by a book 4 & 5 of Final Dance? It’s only that I’ve just noticed many sites list the current books as the “Final Dance Trilogy.”
Thanks for doing all that you do to entertain us, and I understand if you’re too busy to answer.
Hey Christie!
Can you tell us something about your upcoming Star Wars work? I’m talking about Fate of the Jedi. Wich books of the series will you be writing?
I’m so glad I found this! I just wanted to give a huge thanks for writing so many Horde stories – orcs are my absolute favorite and I don’t think we see enough of them (but thanks to your books, we’re seeing more. =D) Elves and humans seem to get the most attention.
You did wonders with all of them – I’m just starting BtDP. ^_^
