Today is the big day! Arthas formally hits bookstores and you can get your very own copy! It was a lot of fun to “debut” the book a couple of days ahead of time at Starfest this weekend. People were very excited to have the chance to pick up a book so new and shiny that it hadn’t even hit stores yet. I sold over thirty-five copies, and some people were already well into the book by the time they left the convention!
As you all know from reading the blog, there is a limited edition print run of 10,000 copies in the gorgeous leather box featuring my signature on the book. I’ve already done five thousand, and Pocket says they want five hundred more! We may run out that full ten thousand, who knows?
I’ll be signing more on Tuesday and my hand is feeling fine.
I am theater trained and I miss acting, so I always love to do readings from my books. I like to think I’m pretty good, but I have to say…Chris Metzen is better! Here’s a link to him reading from the prologue of ARTHAS and also some very cool wallpaper of that incredible cover.

And fun fact? A huuuuge snowstorm rolled into Colorado on Friday, the first night of Starfest. dropping up to 18 inches of snow. Hm…..big old snowstorm the same day Arthas becomes available for purchase in Denver? Coincidence? YOU TELL ME. He’s a pretty powerful dude, that Lich King….
Congratulations on the launch of your new book, Christie! My copy arrived today, and I’m very excited. I actually live in Denver. Yeah, I’m thinking that snowstorm was definitely supernatural. I’ll have to thank Arthas for that one last chance to enjoy a hot chocolate. Unfortunately, I missed Starfest. Do you ever do signings at the Tattered Cover stores or anything? I always seem to find out about signings after the fact. I’m still kicking myself for missing Terry Pratchett at LoDo a couple of years ago.
Listening to Chris read the proogue was amazing. He has a wonderful reading voice. I would love it if he made an audio book of the whole thing. It would be fantastic.
I’m loving this novel so far, by the way. I’m already into the third part, reading about Sylvanas protecting Quel’Thalas from the Scourge. It’s really great, and I hope to read more of your work in the future. <3
Was great seeing you at Starfest and getting my very own pre-release copy.
Glad you had such a good time at Starfest and sold so many books.
I missed your readings, hope to catch you at a future convention when I can. Best of luck!
I have truely been inspired by all of your work. I look to pick up the Arthas novel as soon as I get out to the local bookstore and enjoyed your book about Thrall in Lord of the Clans. I could read that book over a hundred times and never get bored, and that is why i am extremely looking forward to read about my favorite villian in World of Warcraft (other than Aedelas Blackmoore) Arthas.
Thank you for writing another Warcraft book and i look forward to reading it soon!
I’m wishing you much success with this book. Based on the response, it doesn’t sound as though you need it. I’m an avid book reader and a WOW lover. I had every intention of purchasing this book, but I won it in a contest.
Arthas arrived in yesterday in mailbox yesterday. I read it in almost one sitting. Through Arthas, I was able to take a peek at the places and lives of characters a variety of my toons have interacted with in-game, and I enjoyed it immensely! I’ve read some WOW lore over the past year, and it was nice to see that come to life within your book and yearning to learn more. Consider yourself added to my favorite authors list.
I’ve read Dance of the Dead along with Vampire of the Myst. I have not read your books in a while and was absolutely thrilled when I rediscovered you via Arthas.ò
Hey there Christie
Gz on your new book, I just red it and it’s soo nice. Just wish there’d be more ;(
so, to my question: Will there be more Arthas books? Like a trilogy or something?
Would be a shame to end the story like this: a group of unknown “heores” kills the Lich King in Icecrown Citadel with no reason to … or maybe to get him to answer for his crimes.
But i’m just saying it could be awesome to continue the story saying Arthas seeks forgiveness or something at some point and seeks out Jaina so they can make the world better again and perhaps ressurect what is lost.
Thanks in advance.

Hey Christine. Well i have a copy of the super signed copy on order as well as a regular copy to read. I can’t wait to hear more about your WoW trilogy you are doing, i’m hoping it will fill in a few bits of WoW lore left to cover. I’m quite new to reading the warcraft novels, i have just read Lord of the Clans – wow i couldn’t put it down. Your covering of orcs is fantastic, you seem to really get into their heads and make them more than the savage beasts many think them to be. I’m currently writing a novel based on my WoW character and online friends.
All the best, Jase.
I have just received the book in the mail yesterday, and by far have been enjoying reading your novel.
Just got my collector’s edition copy today =D can’t wait to read it as I loved Rise of the Horde and a few of your other books =D
Hey! Rumor has it that someone ’round these parts is a NYT Bestselling author?
