As Star Trek taught us, all good things must come to an end.  My path is leading me away from the Music City area to the Lone Star State, and books are heavy (and expensive) to move.

Everything on the store…including the rare Collector’s Edition of ARTHAS: RISE OF THE LICH KING, is half-price.  I’ve only just started selling foreign language editions on my site, so if you read Italian, Korean, German, or some other languages, you’re in luck.

Simply go to store.christiegolden.com and enter the code LONESTAR50 at checkout.

Please help with my moving hassle and help yourself to a fantastic deal on signed and personalized novels! Sale runs through May 5.

And…go!

Wow…I can’t believe it’s almost time for Star Wars Celebration!

I’ve gotten to know the Anaheim Convention Center pretty well over the last few years, thanks to it being the regular site of Blizzcon. It will be cool to be there with my Star Wars author hat on.  I’m very excited about “Dark Disciple,” which comes out on July 7, and I’m told there will be lots of announcements at the convention!

I love cons because it’s a chance to meet my readers and personally thank you for your support of my work. Bear in mind that I’m on a schedule of interviews and meetings that aren’t listed here, and I also need to make sure I’m properly fed and watered! So if I say “I’m so sorry, I can’t stop to chat now,” that’s why, and I hope you forgive me. Otherwise, feel free to come up and say hello.  I’d love to meet you.

Here’s where you can find me!

DISCLAIMER: Yes, I know that the listings for April 16 and April 17 have insufficient spaces between them. I can’t seem to change that.  ><  Darn technology…

It’s hard for me to realize I’m “international.”

I mean…it doesn’t seem like that long ago I was sitting at Waldenbooks (ask your parents, you younger folks) at an alleged “signing” where I didn’t sell a single copy.  What I did do, however, was explain to people that I was the author, not a salesperson for the store, when they asked me where the bathroom was.

So it still amazes me when I have signings in places like China and Brazil, and people tweet me from all over the world.  Amazes me, and humbles me.

Since I’m “international” now, I often bump up against the reality that some of my readers, obviously, duh, aren’t in the United States. Until now, this has limited what I can do for them.  I’ve not been able to accept international orders at the bookstore where I sell personalized, autographed books.  I’ve not been able to take international currency for editing work.  And so, a lot of my readers have been disappointed.

But no longer!  First, as of right now through February 15, everyone can get 20% off any order from my bookstore.  That includes the super-rare Collector’s Edition of “Arthas: Rise of the Lich King.”  Stock for some books is getting low, and in many cases when they’re gone, they’re gone.  I urge you to visit now and place your orders!  It’s my way of saying how much I appreciate you!

store.christiegolden.com

And as for my wonderful international readers:

1. You, too, can place orders through the bookstore now!  We’ve just put this up, so please let me know if you run into any difficulties. Shoot me an email at goldenediting@yahoo.com and we’ll work it out!

2. If you want to hire me to critique your writing, I now accept Paypal!  Drop me an email at goldenediting@yahoo.com for more details.

3. Coming soon–I may be able to sell foreign language edition books from my website!  These are very rare and I only have a few, but it would be lovely to get them into readers’ hands!

So…happy Valentine’s day, everyone, and thank you for supporting me and my work of the heart. <3!!

This has been the busiest November ever–and it’s not done yet!

The first weekend in November, I attended what is quite possibly the best Blizzcon to date.  They debuted a new IP, “Overwatch,” which looks fantastic; showed a partial trailer for the upcoming “Warcraft” movie, and kicked enthusiasm up even higher for the launch of Warlords of Draenor.

I barely got home in time to say Happy Birthday to Assassin’s Creed: Unity: Abstergo Employee Handbook on November 11.  Wow!  Insight Editions has done it again.  This book is amazing.  You, the reader, are the new Templar agent who has been tapped to finish out an assignment your predecessor failed to complete:  Arno Dorian, Assassin, active during the French Revolution.  You will peruse files complete with sticky notes, lavish illustrations, and notes written by Dorian himself.  But you’d better be successful, because “termination” at this corporation has a double meaning.  You can purchase it from Amazon.com here:  http://www.amazon.com/Assassins-Creed-Unity-Abstergo-Entertainment/dp/1608874036/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416511090&sr=8-1&keywords=abstergo+employee+handbook

I had so much fun writing this–and Arno Dorian is a wonderful character.  I hope my readers will find this is a great companion piece to the game!

Time flew, and Warlords of Draenor came out.  Wow…or WoW…that’s a whole blog post in and of itself.  I love it.

Another Tuesday rolled around:  November 18, when I got to announce a second book birthday–The Accidental Knight, a tie-in to Cryptozoic’s HEX online card game.  The book was a stretch goal on a wildly successful Kickstarter and I had a blast writing in a new world.  Almost all of the characters you’ll meet are my creations, with a few cameos from already established characters in the game.  New cards featuring some of them will be available in Set 2, for those of you who want to know! How cool to see my characters realized in art form.  Currently the book is only available as an e-book, but there are plans for a print edition.  You can be sure I’ll let you know!  Till then, you can get the book at Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Accidental-Knight-Christie-Golden-ebook/dp/B00PMC2LEO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416511806&sr=8-1&keywords=Accidental+knight , on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/the-accidental-knight/id941942782?ls=1&mt=11, and for Nook at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-accidental-knight-christie-golden/1120798191?ean=2940150446922 .

There was something else…some other birthday…hm…oh yeah, mine, tomorrow.  I feel like I’ve already gotten two presents!

**UPDATE** Right here where you can’t miss it (I hope!)

I will be signing at Blizzcon at the area identified on the map as “Artist and Developer Signing Area.”  This is near the long rectangle, right under “Hearthstone,” between the Hearthstone signing area and the photo booths.  I’ll there from 1-2 Friday, and 11-12 Saturday!

*****

Well, the month I’ve been waiting for all year is just around the corner–NOVEMBER!

Why have I been waiting for it?  Because it’s my birthday month!  And to celebrate my birthday, all kinds of people are doing nice things for me.  Here we go…!  (WARNING: Some of what follows may be tongue-in-cheek.)

AT BLIZZCON:

PLEASE NOTE:  This year, if you wish to purchase books for me to sign, you will need to buy them at the Blizzcon Store.  As far as I know, the only title they will be selling is “War Crimes.”  Do please feel free to bring your own copies with you, I will happily sign anything you put in front of me! *

November 6, Thursday:  Blizzard Entertainment is throwing a Benefit Dinner in my honor.**  I hope some of you have your tickets already, and I look forward to meeting you there!

November 7, Friday, 1-2:  I will be doing a signing at the dedicated Forge signing area.  Sitting next to me at this signing will be the always awesome Micky Neilson. 🙂

November 8, Saturday, 11-12:  I will again be found at the Forge signing area.

REGARDING “ASSASSIN’S CREED”:

November 11: The nice folks at Ubisoft and Insight Editions are releasing “Assassin’s Creed: Unity,” the game, and publishing “Assassin’s Creed Unity: Abstergo Entertainment: Employee Handbook,” on the same day! Read about it here:  http://gamerant.com/assassins-creed-unity-abstergo-employee-handbook/

MORE THINGS TO HONOR MY NATAL DAY:

November 13: “Warlords of Draenor” releases!

November 21 (MY BIRTHDAY):  “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1” released.  Wasn’t it nice of Jennifer and Josh to insist on honoring my special day like that?***

Gosh.  I bet you all are now super-glad I was born.  I sure am! 🙂  Be sure to follow me on Twitter, #ChristieGolden, in case there are any updates or additions!  Have a great “Christie Golden’s Birthday” month!

–Christie

*Not really.  I won’t sign certain body parts or blank checks.

**Not really on this, either.  It’s to benefit Children’s Hospital of Orange County, but I will be attending along with many Blizzard employees.  It should be terrific!

***Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure that neither Jennifer nor (even more unfortunately) Josh actually know I exist.  But they might!

I’m very much a Luddite and a dinosaur, and if I had a cane I’d sure I’d be shouting “get off my lawn!” and uttering the word “whippersnapper”–at least when it comes to all this newfangled “technology.”

My first book was published in 1991.  Some of my most devoted readers weren’t even born then.  The internet as it is now was firmly under the label “science fiction”, not “reality,” and reading books on a telephone?  Crikey.

Well, the times have changed, and so must I.

I’m investigating all kinds of options in the Brave New World of publishing, and one of the more basic things technology can offer me is a chance to get signed copies of my novels into the hands of readers.  🙂  “Yes, friends, I am assured that with the click of a button, readers can order a book, request what type of personalization they desire, and have it mailed to them, all from the comfort of their own homes!”

*serious voice* What’s especially cool about this (to me, anyway) is that not only will readers be able to order books that are in print, I have many copies of rare, out-of-print books that they can purchase as well.  I’ve been a regular at StarFest selling these books, and I sold several copies recently at DragonCon, but I’m very excited to soon be able to offer it to anyone who is interested.

Stay tuned!  This is going to be fun!

First, that disclaimer.

I suck at recognizing people. Seriously. There are people who’ve supported me for close on to two decades every year at StarFest and I don’t recognize them. I can’t even say “I’m bad at names, but I remember faces.” I forget both. I stared blankly at a friend until she introduced herself and I said, “Oh!  I didn’t recognize you without Stan and Kathy’s living room around you.”  I don’t even recognize celebrities in movies half the time.  (So far, this hasn’t happened with Tom Hiddleston, but he may be the only one. Now watch, now that I’ve said that, one day I’ll be in an elevator with him and have No Clue.)

What I DO remember is conversations.  Remind me of what we chatted about, on Twitter or FB or what have you, and I (should!) light up and go “Yes!”

Naturally, this type of brain (dys)function is of no help at ALL at conventions.  I’m aware of it and I hate it, because I truly do value my readers and their support.  So, please be gentle.  It is 100% not personal, I promise!

Whew!  I don’t know about you, but I feel better now that I’ve gotten that off my chest.  😉

Okay!  Here we go!

This is my final schedule for Dragon*Con.

*WHAT’S DIFFERENT:  My official con signing is now at 4:00 instead of 1:00, so it doesn’t conflict with a World of Warcraft Q&A panel. 🙂  Thank you Dragon*con programming for making that change!

*I have also added a booksigning with The Missing Volume, 1pm on Sunday (check below for more details.)

*The nice people at Larry Smith Bookseller will be offering signed books for sale (don’t know the selection yet.) I’ll be stopping by their booth (details below) to sign their stock early on Friday.  AmericasMart, Booths 103,104 and 105 in the middle of the run facing the dealer tables and behind the booths that face the elevator/escalator core.

*Finally, I will be toting a few copies of select titles with me to panels and my reading.  IF YOU KNOW YOU WILL BE AT A PANEL AND WANT TO PURCHASE A PARTICULAR TITLE, LET ME KNOW AND I WILL MAKE SURE I HAVE IT FOR YOU!  Comment here or drop me an email at goldenediting@yahoo.com (I won’t have access to my christie@christiegolden.com addy).  Books are cover price plus tax. I take cash and credit cards ( ❤ you, Square!)

Wow, I’m really glad you asked that.

At the end, as those who’ve read it may recall, there was a huge distraction provided by bronze dragon Kairozdormu so that he could spirit away Garrosh Hellscream.

Thus begins your adventure, brave hero!

1. Read War Crimes if you haven’t done so! http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Crimes-Christie-Golden/dp/1451684487/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1408732070&sr=1-1&keywords=war+crimes+christie+golde

2. Read the short story, “Hellscream” by Robert Brooks. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/game/lore/savage-world/hellscream/page-1

3. Listen to this interview with me and Micky Neilson, conducted by Jesse Cox:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI_UjqwCOYs

4. Watch the cinematic:  http://us.battle.net/en/warlords-of-draenor-presale/

6. Go read Rise of the Horde to bone up on your history of Draenor as it happened in “our Timeway,” and and Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects to understand how it’s possible to interact with alternate Timeways.

http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Rise-Horde-No/dp/0743471385/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408731937&sr=8-1&keywords=Rise+of+the+Horde

7.  Get back into game and level up your toons in anticipation of Warlords of Draenor!
