Okay, I am late. Like, White Rabbit late in posting this. I’ve been extraordinarily busy and while I’ve remembered to talk about all this on my Facebook and got my website updated, I still need to post here!
So I’m posting. 🙂
First, I am thrilled to announce (or remind people) that my next novel, The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm will be out on October 19! The new patch already has some tidbits from the book, and up until the release of Cataclysm on December 7 there will be more and more from the book appearing in game. Get it now and get the scoop! I’m very excited, as I worked closely with Blizzard on the timing and the integration of book and game. I think it’s going to be a real treat for readers–and the artwork in it is spectacular! If you can, preorder or purchase your book next week–let’s see if we can get this puppy on the NYT Bestseller’s list to keep Arthas company.
Second, I have two sets of signings next week. If you live in San Diego (or feel like traveling there!) my fellow author Richard Knaak and I will be signing books at Mysterious Galaxy, 7051 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, Suite 302 San Diego CA, 92111. Phone number there is 858-.268-4747. The signing begins at 7:00 and runs until 8:00.
For those of you lucky enough to get tickets to Blizzcon, held October 22-23 at the Anaheim Convention Center, I will be there this year again signing books with Richard.
Friday & Saturday
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
I had such a wonderful time last year meeting everyone. I look forward to seeing many of you there!
Just ordered your book in German(y) and look forward to “dive” into it
Isn´t it fantastic to read a book and experience it´s events at the same time in the mythic otherworld of a MMO ? The magic of interactive cross-media stories in our times.
Thank you Christie for your books! I always enjoy the depth and emotional layers that you bring to the characters.
Peace from Germaniacs lands and have a fantastic con
André
Christie,
I wanted to poke my head in to say that you are by far my favorite WoW lore novelist and I really enjoyed ‘The Shattering’. My only complaint is that it was too short! I’m a lore fiend and I voraciously read everything I can get my hands on. I get so immersed in the stories that I blow through the books really fast. It made me so sad when I realized I was reading the last page!
Your ability to give a voice to characters we see almost daily, and impart so much more depth that one just cannot get in-game, is what makes your stories so fun and compelling. Perfect example is my reaction when I got my first Lich King kill; my raid team were all screaming and yelling and cheering. What was I doing? I was sitting there all choked up (especially during the cut scene). What I saw laying there was not the horrific murderer and soul stealer. It was the paladin Arthas WAS and the tragedy of how the true desire of a Prince to help his people and the boy’s need of fatherly approval blinded him to the darkness that slowly crept in. I had wanted redemption for him so badly and I really wish Blizzard would have included Jaina in that final scene – so that she could have closure and say goodbye. That would’ve had me sobbing like an idiot I’m sure. 😉 Oh well…
Anyway, thank you for my lore fix. … … *taps foot* … so when’s the next one? 😉
Have fun at Blizzcon and best of luck with the new book!
Denise
Hello
I am reading “Lord of Clans” right now and I am really enjoying it, so much so that I was encouraged to write this blog. I am sure that writer of your caliber would require no praise of your work especially form someone who has no experience writing let alone be judging a writer’s work but if i must say ” a book well written. Keep up the Good work 🙂
Ps; I am certain that “The Shattering’ will also be an exciting read. I look forward to reading it, have fun at Blizzcon.
Thank you.
Hello, I love your Warcraft books! I’m a big fan. I’m curious to know if you have plans to release The Shattering as an audio book? I have a long commute to work and like listening to sci-fi\fantasy while I drive. Good Luck and Thanks!
Heya Christie!
I’ve never gotten into reading books for World of Warcraft but I picked up the Shattering at Blizzcon this year and you of course signed it. I read the book in a day because I was hooked. I really enjoyed reading it. 😀
Thanks a lot and hope to read more of your books. :3
I just found you for the first time online, and I wanted to tell you that Instrument of Fate is one of the best books I’ve ever read, and one of the most unique. I believe that I stumbled upon your work when you were first starting out (and when I was about 11), so there were only two books that I could find from you, the other was The King’s Man and Thief. Unfortunately I can’t find Instrument of Fate anywhere and it says on your website that it’s out of print 😦
What a lovely thing to say, thank you! Yes, I am afraid I have many books that are out of print. However, your message is timely–I have been considering setting up my website to accept Paypal and sell copies of my books from it for a while. I’ll be moving in a couple of months, and once I get set up, I will revisit that possibility. I’m also looking into the concept of e-books or print on demand for some of my out of print options. It’s lovely to know that so many people out there have read my original books, and that they are special. Thanks so much for dropping me a line!
Also, after the move, I want to blog more. ><
I hate to say I was disappointed in one thing in Thrall Twilight of the Aspects. All I will say is Korialstrasz. Not cool
Spoiler alert ahead for those who haven’t read the book!

Bear in mind, I work from an outline given to me from Blizzard, and this was a change they wanted and thought would make the world stronger as they look ahead to the direction in which they want to take it. Richard Knaak was certainly aware of what was going on. I wanted to do the character justice, and I did my very best to give him a hero’s farewell.
I’ve just started reading Arthas, and love your writing style! My son has already read it and thoroughly enjoyed it. We picked up more “WoW” books today. I just found your blog here by googling because we were wondering how you got into writing about WoW. I admit to be a bit disappointed that your latest entry isn’t recent. Anyway, hope you are well and writing more!
Didn’t you write the short story “One Good Bite”? it was published in “100 vicious little vampire stories”.
I sure did! I also contributed to 100 Wicked Little Witches. 🙂
I hope you write about the Troll Wars I’m really excited about that and I’m kinda High Elf Fan so even if they’re becoming extinct I hope they’ll shine once more even if it’s only in the lore :)) and I really love your work :)) keep it up pls ;))
